Transfer Case Service
Is your four-wheel drive or all-wheel-drive (AWD) vehicle having a hard time changing into or out of four-wheel-drive mode? Let one of the trained technicians at Jiffy Lube® take a look and give your transfer case new fluid to bathe its gears. Removing contaminated or broken-down fluid and replacing it with new fluid helps prevent premature wear and can prevent costly repairs.
In Case You Were Wondering
The transfer case is a special gearbox that distributes power between the front and rear axles on four-wheel-drive vehicles. In AWD vehicles, the transfer case shifts power from one axle to another, depending on which wheels are getting the most traction.
Lubricating fluid in the transfer case helps keep all these various gears clean, cool and turning smoothly. Fluid additives break down at varying intervals in different gearboxes. Jiffy Lube® technicians use your vehicle manufacturer’s recommended changing interval to check, drain and replace contaminated or broken-down fluid to prevent premature wear and damage. On rare occasions, fluid may leak from a seal in the case, hastening the need to replace it before the level drops too low to properly lubricate the gears.
Jiffy Lube® Transfer Case Service
Jiffy Lube technicians discuss symptoms and signs of transfer case wear with each customer to help diagnose transfer case problems. They then drain the old fluid and replace it with new fluid that meets your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations.
